So, is Broadcom a “soft touch” for patent trolls?

So, asks Guy Kewney,  how can we sort out patent trolls, inventors, and Bluetooth designers?

He asks:

 “What do these companies have in common: Matsushita and its Panasonic unit, Samsung, and Nokia? Two answers: they are all companies named in a patent lawsuit over Bluetooth. And (say wireless engineers) they are also companies where Broadcom would very much like to sell more Bluetooth technology.”

He asks this question: “Why, when faced with allegations that the Bluetooth SIG had failed to cover these IP matters, did Broadcom not inform the SIG?”

Hmm…
