The “sports watch” which shrinks in the rain?

Nice of the guys at Tech Digest to discover a Bluetooth. GPS-equipped watch:

Leave it to Newswireless to ask:

“But what if it gets wet?”
Inexplicably, the warranty says: “The warranty does not cover:

  1. Any product of serial number has been defaced modified or removed.
  2. Damage, deterioration or malfunction resulting from accident, misuse, water or other acts of nature.

  which is worrying, because a sports watch really ought to be able to cope with water and nature. The tech manual reveals that it is “water resistant IPX7” – which means you can wear it in the bath, but probably can’t go swimming with it. It will probably survive a half hour three feet down; but that’s assuming you don’t wave it around. And as for getting into a waterfall or water jet from a hosepipe…
